It was Saturday morning in the village of Sunshine.
Three friends—Tom, Ben, and Sam—were sitting under a mango tree when Tom suddenly had an idea.
“Let’s have a race!” he shouted.
“A running race?” asked Ben.
“No!” Tom replied. “A banana race!”
Everyone became curious.
The rules were simple: each person had to balance a banana on their head and walk from the mango tree to the old wooden gate without dropping it.
The first person to reach the gate with their banana still on their head would win.
“Ready?” shouted Sam.
“Go!”
They started walking.
Ben walked very slowly.
Tom walked confidently.
Sam tried to walk quickly.
Suddenly, a chicken ran across the path.
“Move!” shouted Sam.
He jumped to avoid the chicken.
Plop!
His banana fell to the ground.
Everyone burst out laughing.
Tom was still walking when a butterfly flew around his nose.
“Shoo! Shoo!” Tom shouted.
He waved his hands and forgot about his banana.
Plop!
His banana fell too.
Now only Ben remained.
He carefully took one step at a time.
Step…
Step…
Step…
He finally reached the gate.
“I won!” Ben shouted.
But then everyone noticed something strange.
Ben had been walking so slowly that the banana had become completely brown!
Everyone laughed even harder.
Ben looked at the banana and said, “At least I have a ripe banana for lunch!”
The three friends laughed together and decided that the race was so much fun that they would do it again the following Saturday.
Moral of the Story
Sometimes the best part of a competition is not winning, but having fun and sharing laughter with friends.
